One of the most exciting developments in terms of Scouting activities has been established just five miles from Cornel. Treetop Adventure is the brainchild of an ex-royal marine, who has built a high level adventure journey through the trees which involves negotiating a series of obstacles. All participants are fitted with a harness and helmet and attached to a safety line.

The course starts off gently enough, with the first platforms only a few yards above the ground

The course was built by Ropes Course Developments Ltd – the founders of the European Ropes Course Industry and safety is the key component of the course management. The MD and on site manager of Treetops is Sean; in the Royal Marines, Sean qualified as an instructor in various different roles including Jungle Warfare, Military Skiing, Survival, Unarmed Combat, Helicopter Abseiling and Sky Diving, so he knows his stuff.

Soon, swinging bridges appear, and you find it's getting trickier...

Sean is keen to offer the experience of Treetops to as many Scouts as possible and, in that vein, he's agreed to offer a 10% discount for starters for anyone who is an active member of the Scout Association.

As far as Cornel itself is concerned, we will supply you with a code word when you book at Cornel which, when presented to Treetops at the time of booking, will gain you that 10%.

A full forest climbing wall is an extra part of the course

Those of us who've dared to use the course have been extremely impressed, not just with the quality and design of the course, but also with the attention to detail and sheer exhilaration you experience when you're doing this course.

Frankly, it's an experience your Scouts won't ever forget.
